A civil marriage ceremony allows you complete freedom of choice to create a wedding ceremony that reflects your feelings, beliefs and personality. It is your wedding ceremony, you are the focus of the day.

As a Civil Marriage Celebrant, Phillip offers various different wedding ceremonies from simple to formal. He can provide you with sample marriage ceremonies for you to select or modify to your own taste. The most important thing is that you feel relaxed and confident that Phillip will carry out your wishes.

The content of the wedding service is up to you, every ceremony is unique. Family and friends are welcome to participate in the marriage ceremony. You can include any poems, readings, music, or cultural symbols if you wish.

What does a Civil Marriage Celebrant do?

Phillip will handle your legal paperwork, assist you write and arrange a wedding ceremony to suit your own personal style and tastes to solemnize your marriage.

What are the Australian legal obligations?

  • You must be over 18 years of age.

  • Prior to the day of the marriage ceremony, you will need to produce either your birth certificate or passports.

  • By Law, the couple must give Phillip one calendar month’s and one day’s notice.

  • If either of you have previously been married you will have to produce your Divorce Decree Absolute papers and/or if either of your spouses are deceased, you must produce the Death Certificate.

  • On the day of your marriage you must have two witnesses over eighteen years of age.


What are the first steps?
The Celebrant
must have the “Notice of Intended Marriage” one month and one day prior to the proposed wedding.

Creating your ceremony can be a lot of fun and his aim is to make it easy for you.  You have many choices – Phillip can write it for you, we can write it together or you can create your own ceremony. Most ceremonies these days are around 15 – 25 minutes.

  • A deposit will be required to secure your date and time

  • I will present you with a full kit of information to guide you through the process.

  • Together we will work through your ceremony

  • Prior to the ceremony we will meet at your chosen venue or area and go over the proceedings and ceremony with both of you.

  • Final payment will be due 7 working days prior to the ceremony.
